Madonna with Child
Oil on canvas, 73x98 cm
Attributed to Felice Cignani
Felice Cignani was born in Bologna in 1660, in a family environment deeply steeped in art. His first and fundamental teacher was his father, Carlo Cignani, an already established artist and a leading figure in the Bolognese painting scene. Felice's apprenticeship took place within his father's workshop, a fertile environment of stimuli and technical and stylistic knowledge. The family artistic tradition also continued with Felice who, in turn, dedicated himself to the formation of other artists, such as his cousin Paolo Cignani (1709-1764), witnessing the continuity of a dynasty of painters.
