PANC176 - Spool-turned armchair in walnut and leather, 16th/17th century, Dimensions cm W 53 x H 90 x D 43
Description:
PANC176 - Important spool-turned armchair in solid walnut, dating back to the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
An emblematic example of Italian Renaissance furniture, it stands out for its solid structure and the elegant "spool" turning of the legs and crossbars, a typical element of the production of the time.
The seat and backrest are covered in original leather, fixed with coeval metal studs arranged along the perimeter, a decorative detail that underlines its austere and refined character. The leather shows natural signs of aging, wear and tear and gaps that testify to the authenticity and long history of the artifact, giving it a unique and unrepeatable charm.
The structure, robust and well proportioned, is embellished by the turned front crosspiece and the sober line of the rectangular backrest.
