This elegant baroque commode was made in Piedmont in the second half of the eighteenth century. Veneered in walnut wood, it is decorated with wood inlays on all its sides, creating baroque ramage motifs and foliate volutes of great decorum and scenic effect. The lighter boxwood inlays create a chromatic play that lends the furniture particular refinement. The top has a curved and shaped profile with a "headwood" edge. It is also inlaid, and the design, which echoes the rest of the furniture, features scrolls, volutes, and phytomorphic elements.
The commode consists of four large drawers. The front is curved and is connected to the sides by rounded uprights of great value. Small boxwood fillets create frames around the inlays, drawers, and uprights, increasing the chromatic play and consequently the overall luminosity.
The commode rests on four shaped and curved bracket feet and is adorned with finely chased bronze escutcheons and six drawer pulls with asymmetrical rocaille motifs.
This commode, due to its refined execution and elegant composition, can easily be placed in any environment, such as a bedroom, study, entryway, or living room. It is suitable for being placed alongside antique furniture as well as modern pieces.
