daisies, and wildflowers, rendered with great chromatic sensitivity and attention to botanical detail.
The warm and deep tones of the dark background highlight the brightness of the petals and create a refined play of light and shadow, typical of the
French academic tradition. The brushwork is soft and controlled, with a realistic rendering. The slightly asymmetrical arrangement
gives the scene naturalness and movement.
The painting is enhanced by an important gilded frame in 19th-century pure gold leaf, contemporary with the painting, finely carved,
which increases its decorative and collectible value.

Étienne Léon Trébutien (1823–1871), French painter born in Bayeux (Calvados department), France, known above all as a painter
of still lifes, a genre much appreciated in 19th-century France. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1857.
Some of his paintings are exhibited in the French museums of Bayeux and Montargis.
The elegant antique gilded frame and oil painting have been professionally and carefully restored.
