Scagliola inlaid table with wrought iron base  Translated
Description:
Dimensions: cm 174 x 78 Materials: polychrome scagliola and wrought iron Refined rectangular table characterized by a top in scagliola finely inlaid. The decoration develops on a dark background, highlighting a rich composition of floral motifs, baroque volutes and stylized architectural elements. At the center stands an oval medallion framed by a gilded fastigium, containing a sacred figure (Madonna with Child) on a base of clouds. The work presents an articulated chromatic alternation where the tones of white, pink and blue of the flowers dialogue with the golden highlights of the ribbon decorations and the geometric frames that delimit the perimeter of the top. The scagliola technique, historically known as "poor man's marble", achieves a high aesthetic result here thanks to the precision of the chromatic joints. The top is supported by a solid wrought iron structure, which gives stability and a sober character to the whole, balancing the decorative richness of the upper surface. The artifact is inspired by the great tradition of Emilian and Tuscan scagliola, reinterpreted with the decorative taste of the 20th century. The presence of the date "1746" inserted in the inlay is to be understood as a celebratory reference or a citation of an original historical model. The object is in good condition, with the surface maintaining its original shine and vividness of the pigments.  Translated
