Rare dressing table - podreause, also as a small desk, from Viennese Classicism. Circa 1770.  Translated
Description:
Rare dressing table - podreause, also as a lady's desk, from Viennese Classicism. Circa 1770. Exquisite piece of furniture in patina from the Viennese Neoclassical period (circa 1770). The piece is veneered in the best quality walnut feather with maple and fruit wood inlays. This type of furniture, with its exquisite dimensions, was used by the nobility of the time both as a lady's writing desk and as a container for precious items and make-up. For this reason, when necessary, the top was raised, rotating to expose the mirror. The side drawers contained make-up. The lower drawers, which locked with an ingenious mechanism, were used to store correspondence and valuables. This object, in original patina, in very good condition, has been restored, consolidated and French polished with shellac, using museum standard techniques. Can be used "in the center of the room", as the original back has also been cared for and polished. Dimensions: Width 98 cm, Depth 48 cm, Height 75 cm. Observe the second photo on the listing, which is a computer simulation of fantasy where the work is imagined in a high-end modern furnishing context. A "modernity", brightness and abstraction emerge, surprising for a work conceived over two centuries ago, as well as a great touch of class and elegance to the whole. The high Viennese antique cabinet-making, with its sober and minimalist elegance, is very much linked to the lines of modern furniture. In accordance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides, simultaneously with the sale, a detailed written photographic guarantee of originality and provenance of the works sold. The data with which the works are described and then contained in the written guarantees are expressed determinations resulting from accurate and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations, even of expert importance.
