Lombard carved and gilded mirror, mid-18th century
Dimensions: : 157 cm,: 76 cm
Description:
Important carved and gilded wood mirror, of Lombard production, dating back to the mid-18th century, attributable to the full Rococo taste of the Po Valley area. The frame features a rich and articulated decorative repertoire of volutes, leaves and plant motifs, developed with great movement along the entire profile and culminating in the elegant openwork cymatium. The deep and vibrant carving reveals a high-level workmanship, intended for a reception environment. The mirror is original to mercury, with the natural oxidations and hazes of time, which attest to its authenticity. The back is original, an element of particular interest and rarity. The leaf gilding is in good condition, with some small touches in purpurin and minimal localized restorations, as well as punctual gluing, fully consistent with the age and conservative history of the work. Overall, the mirror is in good condition, with a warm and authentic patina that enhances the quality of the carving and the decorative strength of the whole. Dimensions: Height 157 cm - Width 76 cm Elegant and scenic, ideal as a central piece of furniture in classic interiors or as a piece of strong contrast in contemporary settings.
