PTC023 - 19th century black lacquered prison door with hatch, dimensions cm W 90 x H 195
Description:
PTC023 - Impressive and authentic 19th century prison door, entirely made of solid wood reinforced with wrought iron elements.
The surface is finished with a matte black lacquer, which enhances its severe and monumental character, while maintaining the patina of time.
The structure is composed of robust horizontal boards, punctuated by dense exposed metal nails, typical of prison doors of the time, designed to ensure maximum strength and security. In the center there is the classic inspection hatch with original latch, used for the control of prisoners, perfectly consistent with the historical use of the artifact.
The locking system is complete and spectacular: iron locking bars, massive hinges, original brackets and linkages, with authentic signs of wear that tell the long life of the object. Every detail – from the natural oxidations of the metal to the irregularities of the wood – contributes to restore a strong aesthetic and narrative value.
19th century era. Opening to pull to the right.
Iron back.
