Louis XVI bedside table with one door, Lombardy, late 18th century
Description:
Refined bedside table with a single door, made in Lombardy in the late eighteenth century. Veneered in cherry wood and decorated with precious inlaid plant motifs, it shows the typical elegance of the Louis XVI style. The slender structure rests on fluted truncated pyramidal legs, while the interior, covered in period floral paper, is divided by two shelves.
A sober but refined piece of furniture, an expression of the Piacenza school and the neoclassical taste widespread in the Po Valley at the end of the 18th century.
