OVAL PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG WOMAN SECOND HALF 18TH CENTURY
Description:
Elegant and unique oval portrait, oil on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame not contemporary with the painting. The painting depicts a portrait of a young woman belonging to the Neapolitan aristocracy, holding a bouquet of flowers in her hand. The background against which the figure stands out is certainly striking, characterized by a carmine red curtain, which gives great refinement to the whole. In the center is the young woman, placed in three-quarter view, in period clothes and hairstyle, which denote her class. The dress is characterized by particular floral and geometric embroidery with lace, a clasp with precious stones is also placed in the center of the dress, while pearl bracelets hang on the woman's arms. The girl's face has a mild gaze turned towards the viewer, the hair is characterized by black curls and is adorned with a pearl clasp, as is the necklace around her neck, and luxurious earrings can be seen. This is a portrait of great taste and refinement, in which one can appreciate the pictorial mastery in the stylistic rendering and details, capable of giving a touch of elegance and antiquity to any environment. Small imperfections are noted. Neapolitan manufacture from the Bourbon period, around the second half of the 18th century. Measurements: H x W x D overall 131 x 97 x 7cm; H x W work only 115 x 84cm
