Description:
Vienna, circa 1815-20, exceptionally rare display cabinet/cupboard in practically intact condition. High Viennese cabinetry from the very early Biedermeier period, from the circle of cabinetmakers/designers close to Joseph Danhauser. The elegant piece of furniture is veneered in top-quality cherry feather, typical of the Alpine forests around Vienna. The sides and stylized side columns feature plum wood threading, with central elm burl veneered details. The interior is veneered in precious mountain maple wood. Upper shelves with raised shelves, as in the most luxurious display cabinets of the early Viennese Biedermeier period. The piece of furniture is in museum-quality condition of practical integrity including all the glass and mirrors, partly leaded, original of the period. Original locks and vents. In its original patina, consolidated with a polishing refresh carried out with museum-standard technique with real shellac applied by pad. Dimensions: cm. 163.5 height, 98.5 width, cm. 45.5 maximum depth.
Note: the fragile display cases of the true early Viennese Biedermeier period are pieces of significant rarity. Some few display cabinets in preservation conditions like the present one are practically only preserved today in museum collections of Central Europe.
