Portrait of a young and attractive noblewoman, elegantly dressed with a feathered hat on her head. The lady is depicted in profile, her gaze directed towards the viewer. With her left hand, on her index finger, she holds a charming goldfinch. The exquisite execution of the painting denotes the artist's notable predisposition towards portraiture. The work exhibits the unmistakable elegance of the 18th-century French school and should be associated with the paintings of the renowned master Jean-Baptiste Greuze (Tournus, 1725 – Paris, 1805). Most of his portraits depict young and carefree female protagonists, not always of high social standing, but always of remarkable beauty.
