The Ugo Zaccagnini & Figli factory was founded in 1905 in Sesto Fiorentino by Ugo Zaccagnini (1868–1937), a ceramist trained at Richard-Ginori, the oldest Italian ceramics factory. In the 1930s, the company moved to Florence and became "Società Anonima Ceramiche Zaccagnini", under the guidance of his son Urbano who modernised production and opened the company to international export.
