Splendid pair of oil paintings on canvas depicting two views of the old city of Naples overlooking the Gulf. They are two gems executed in the 19th century by an artist affiliated with the Posillipo School. This current of talented painters established itself from the 1820s onwards to meet the great demand from wealthy English and American tourists who wished to take home a memento of their travels. These precious works, which academically reproduced the panoramas of the magnificent city, were produced in small dimensions to facilitate transport. Our two canvases offer the most representative view of Naples, captured from two different angles with the unparalleled backdrop of its gulf.
They are in excellent condition and complete with their beautiful original gilded frames.
