The case has a symmetrical architectural design: at the center is a circular gilded bronze dial, richly decorated with scrolls and plant motifs. The hours are indicated by white enamel cartouches with Roman numerals set into the frame, while the openwork Breguet-style hands further enhance the overall effect. The clock is equipped with a striking mechanism, wound by a key. The upper part is dominated by a sculptural group in patinated bronze: two allegorical female figures, elegantly reclining in a mirrored pose. Their classical clothing and iconographic attributes suggest a reference to the arts or sciences (music, poetry, or history), a theme that was very popular in 19th-century French bronze art. The marble base, punctuated by decorative panels in gilded bronze with symbolic instruments, rests on shaped and richly worked feet, with rocaille and foliage motifs that lend lightness and visual balance.
