Description
George II sterling silver tankard, Joseph Jackson, Dublin, 1749.
Slightly flared body with a circular base, and a wavy and chased decoration along the lower part. Domed, hinged lid, detailed with fluting and shell and bead motifs. Elaborate, curved handle with beaded ridge. Foliated thumbpiece. Coat of arms engraved on the side of the body, featuring an heraldic shield and motto.
Sterling silver marked with 4 hallmarks:
Maker's mark: Joseph Jackson
Crowned harp: city of Dublin
Hibernia: duty mark
Date year letter: 1749

Slight signs of wear and surface scratches. The four hallmarks are present on the lid and body of the tankard.
