French Louis XVI style display cabinet, Napoleon III period, threaded walnut, marble top
Description:
Elegant high-quality French display cabinet, made during the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century), in refined Louis XVI style, characterized by harmonious proportions and extremely careful workmanship. The cabinet is built in solid oak, entirely veneered in walnut, with a selected and mirrored grain of great decorative effect, particularly evident in the side panels. The structure is enriched by refined double-threaded maple and ebony threads, executed with great precision, which frame the sides, doors and uprights. The front has two glass doors, making the cabinet ideal as a display cabinet, china cabinet or small library, with good storage capacity and excellent visibility of the contents. The interior retains wooden shelves consistent with the era. The upper top is made of veined grey marble, presumably Bardiglio, of good quality, overall in good condition, with very slight marginal chipping at the corners, compatible with the age of the furniture. The truncated pyramidal threaded legs fully recall the neoclassical repertoire, giving momentum and elegance to the whole. The piece of furniture is healthy, stable and well preserved, with a warm and natural patina, suitable for both classic interiors and more contemporary contexts.
