Pair of splendid two-handled white and blue jars, Deruta, first half of the 17th century.
Description:
This beautiful pair of pharmacy jars with a globular shape are two-handled and feature a rather unusual element for this type, namely a pouring spout placed at the bottom and downwards, so the contents were probably stopped by a special cap. The vases are entirely decorated in white and blue monochrome with plant elements of acanthus leaves that cover the entire surface framing the cartouche: OL . Hyperica Gimpl / OL. Violatum. The beautiful, intact handles curl into volutes and overhang the two blue leonine masks. The vases are in good condition, with some slight superficial chipping and show no obvious restorations. The dimensions are 33cm in height x 34 in maximum width x 12cm in diameter of the upper mouth. The items are sold as a pair. We attach a certificate of authenticity provided by our antique gallery to the sale.
