Educational panel with cultured pearls and mollusk valves, 20th century
Interesting educational display panel, composed of a carved wooden frame with stylized decoration, containing a selection of mollusk valves and cultured pearls mounted on a light fabric background.
The set illustrates the different stages of pearl formation, as indicated by the original labels in English ("Cultured Pearl", "1 month old", "6 months old"), which accompany the various specimens.
There are small spherical pearls, shell sections and open valves showing the progressive growth of the pearl inside the mollusk.
Object of remarkable historical and scientific fascination, probably intended for educational, museum or demonstration purposes, today appreciated as a collector's item or as an eclectic decorative element for studios, libraries or themed showcases.
Condition: good general condition, with normal signs of aging; well preserved materials and readable labels.
