This fascinating oil painting on canvas depicts the joyful event of the Nativity with the visit of the shepherds and is a typical work of the Venetian school, more precisely Veronese, from the first half of the 18th century. The stylistic characteristics, the nocturnal setting illuminated by candlelight, and the use of warm and vibrant colors with an excellent interplay of light and shadow lead its attribution to a Veronese artist in the circle of Antonio Balestra (Verona, 1666-1740).
The context, already highly evocative in itself, takes on even more enchanting tones thanks to its nocturnal setting, with the protagonist at the center of the canvas illuminated by a dazzling light that seems to eman from his divine body.
The canvas is in excellent condition and comes with a beautiful antique gilded frame.
