His stylistic imprint brilliantly combines the optical clarity of Van Wittel and Lint with the tradition of the ideal landscape made famous by Van Bloemen. In Anesi, however, one perceives a 'romantic' sensibility, reinforced by a peculiar attention to luministic values, contiguous to the examples of Venetian landscape painting disseminated by Marco Ricci and Francesco Zuccarelli. Contributing to identifying the territory in which we find ourselves are the ruins of a Roman arch, evoking the idea of the landscape surrounding the city of Rome, and the course of the Tiber which marks the balanced overlapping of the perspective planes, traversable to the eye through the river's course itself. The effect is one of a pleasant scenic impact, not only for the accuracy with which the landscape is described, but also for the wise harmony of chromatic and luministic counterpoints. The scenography, although respectful of reality, betrays, through atmospheric values, a fantasy capable of transfiguring the view, reproducing the atmospheric sensitivity of the air imbued with light, evoking a delicate Arcadian emotionality. The painting is in excellent condition, perfectly restored, accompanied by a pleasant gilded gold leaf frame.
