Refined Venetian wall light of remarkable elegance, dating back to the mid-18th century, a mature expression of the 18th-century Venetian decorative taste, characterized by compositional freedom and intentionally asymmetrical movement, typical of the central phase of the century. The wooden structure, entirely carved and gilded in pure gold leaf, presents a rich ornamental apparatus with foliate motifs and moving volutes, with a fluid and vibrant profile, far from symmetrical rigidities and perfectly in line with the language of the Venetian rococo. The gilding, presumably retouched or reinforced between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, preserves a beautiful historical reading, with a warm patina consistent with the age of the object. An element of particular value is the original eighteenth-century mercury mirror, finely engraved with a delicate ornamental motif: a foliage composition that frames a sort of stylized altar, inside which a basket with plant and fruit elements stands out, rendered in symbolic and decorative form. The engraving, elegant and measured, harmoniously dialogues with the richness of the gilded carving, creating a refined balance between light, material and design. From a conservation point of view, the Lumière is in good general condition; it has been restored with care and is ready to be placed in an environment, without the need for further interventions. The slight traces of time, visible especially in the mirror and in the gilding, are entirely consistent with the age of the work and enhance its charm and authenticity.
