Exceptional and refined oil painting on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame with contemporary pure gold leaf. The painting depicts a city view of the city of Florence, of which the Ghetto with the Loggia del Pesce can be seen, before its demolition during the period of Florence as capital between 1865 and 1871. The area was in fact demolished, and the current Piazza della Repubblica Via Strozzi was built. In the painting, among the architectures, there are several characters depicted, intent on conversations, walking, a man in a carriage and a gendarme. The work can be attributed to the Florentine painter Giovanni Signorini, father of the better known Telemaco Signorini. It is a painting of great taste and refinement, capable of giving a touch of class and history to any environment. Florentine manufacture of the first half of the 19th century.
