"THE SUBMERGED LOVERS" - FABULOUS MURANO GLASS SCULPTURE, unique piece by Maestro Giuliano Tosi (NEW ENTRY)
Description:
Wonderful and unique artistic creation in Murano glass depicting two figures lovingly embracing, submerged in the seabed surrounded by air bubbles (a magical effect typical of this technique). The figures are enclosed in a flared glass vase with a solid base, where the signature of the master who created this extraordinary work, Giuliano Tosi, can be seen.
The sculpture is made using the difficult "sommerso" glass technique with iridescent colors that vary from black to incredible blue, violet, and golden reflections. The sculpture, as if it were an extraordinary work of Nature, rests on the seabed surrounded by red and brown algae, encircled by bubbles rising upwards.
The "sommerso" glass technique has the ability to achieve a particularly surprising visual depth. The two lovers seem imprisoned within the glass, giving the impression of floating beneath the surface of the sea. An optical effect that creates a sense of movement and depth that captures the attention of those who approach this glass masterpiece with fascination.
The work is signed at the base: Giuliano Tosi
Murano – Venice: 1990s

"Sommerso"
"Submersion" or "sommerso" technique
"Sommerso" is a form of Murano glass art, obtained while hot, which features various layers of glass (sometimes in contrasting colors).
The glass consists of an outer layer of varying thickness superimposed on a more internal layer. In this way, the object consists of various layers of thickness. This process is a relatively popular technique for vases and is sometimes used with extreme mastery only by selected great artists to create sculptures that give the illusion of being magically "immersed" in the sea.
