PAIR OF FRENCH PORCELAIN CENTERPIECES FROM THE SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY 1867
Description:
Elegant pair of porcelain centerpieces, of French origin, from the 19th century dated on the bottom 1867 and produced by CH PILLIVUYT & CO. renowned porcelain manufactory founded in 1818. The mark on these two baskets not only identifies the production mark, but indicates that the company received a Gold Medal at the Paris exhibition in 1867. In Neoclassical taste, made of white porcelain, they have an elegant reticulated basket shape at the top, with a central stem in the shape of volutes enriched with festoons, resting on a circular base all decorated and monogrammed with an S and an F. The base of the basket is entirely decorated with an acanthus leaf motif. The two centerpieces are all decorated with pure gold and are in excellent condition, with no breaks, hairlines, or chips. Note a slight wear in some parts of the gold decoration but that does not affect their value.
