Tavern Scenes  Translated
Description:
"Tavern Scenes"  Flemish Master of the 19th Century School of David Teniers II the Younger (Antwerp, 1610 – Brussels, 1690) Oil on panel Contemporary gilded frame Panel dimensions: 33 x 47 cm Frame dimensions: 53 x 68 cm Excellent condition.   This beautiful pair of oil paintings on panel are an excellent example of the most interesting and sought-after expression of Flemish painting. In fact, in addition to the celebrated Still Lifes, Belgian and Dutch masters distinguished themselves throughout Europe for an incredible production of genre scenes, set in tavern interiors or outdoors in villages or countryside. The characters protagonists of these paintings assumed an appearance with caricatured, sometimes grotesque, features, with deliberately exaggerated expressions and attitudes. The two panels published here perfectly illustrate the characteristics of this particular artistic type, following the pictorial taste of one of its most famous exponents, namely the "Bambocciante" master from Antwerp David Teniers the Younger (Antwerp, 1610 – Brussels, 1690), son of Teniers the Elder and his pupil, and brother of three other valid artists. The scenes depicted describe with great effectiveness the interiors of two taverns animated by typical village characters intent on spending a moment of lightheartedness, cheerfully drinking a mug of beer.   The two compositions are distinguished by the meticulous precision in the figurative rendition of the varied presence of objects and figures, resulting in very interesting and pleasant, with particularly warm and lively tones.   The splendid contemporary frames, richly carved and gilded, complete the panels in an excellent way and constitute a significant added value to the two works, increasing their size and importance. We issue a certificate of authenticity in accordance with the law that guarantees the period, provenance and all the characteristics of the work, drawn up by an Antiquarian affiliated with FIMA (ITALIAN FEDERATION OF ART MERCHANTS).   Delivery in Italy and throughout Europe within 3 days of receiving the bank transfer. Shipping is tracked and insured and travels with careful shockproof packaging inside a custom-made wooden crate.  Translated
