Vienna, circa 1815-20. Rare inlaid secretaire from the early Biedermeier period in practically intact condition, veneered in ash feather and burl, with an interior featuring an architecturally designed layout masterfully inlaid in maple and plum woods with figurative motifs (see the horse and rider on the writing surface, of masterly quality); ebonized wood threads and details. Internal drawers veneered in thuja and cherry wood. details in animal bone. With a warm, original golden patina. In practically intact condition, restored and consolidated with a conservative approach according to the rules of antique craftsmanship with a French polish finish applied with a museum-standard technique on the original patina.
