Rare Empire period bed, walnut burl veneer, ebonized columns, in practically intact condition, with a shellac finish applied with cotton wads using museum-standard technique on the original patina; slats made and prepared. Vienna 1810-1815. This piece can be upholstered to function as either a bed or a sofa, by creating comfortable cushions for the part placed along the wall.
