Vienna 1815 approx. Rare bureau cabinet from the early and finest Viennese Biedermeier period, with practical integrity.
Description:
Rare and captivating bureau cabinet from the early and finest Viennese Biedermeier period of 1815, veneered in exquisite walnut feather, with splendid grains as typical of high Viennese cabinetmaking of the period, when master craftsmen obtained precious essences by masterfully extracting them from trees that grew in particular, secretly kept, locations in the forests around Vienna. The interiors, equipped with 4 small drawers for valuables and documents, are veneered in pear wood, which was pre-treated with a mixture of resin and shellac of still unknown composition to close its pores, then ebonized with lampblack and then polished with shellac (an exclusively and typically Viennese technique of the period). A work of practical, wooden integrity, in the hardware with working locks and also in the lacquers (something rare because, given the delicacy, the parts worked in lampblack were, in subsequent centuries, almost always repainted - even for the works presented in museums today). Consolidated, in original patina with signs of use and time corresponding to its age, with a masterful shellac finish applied with a museum-standard technique. A perfect, warm and luminous piece of furniture, also for combining with high-end modern furniture for an ensemble of exclusive and refined elegance. Dimensions cm.125x60x90. In compliance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides, simultaneously with the sale, a detailed written photographic guarantee of originality and provenance of the works sold. The data with which the works are described and then contained in the written guarantees are expressed determinations resulting from accurate and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations, including expert appraisal.
