Refined oil painting on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame. The painting depicts a rural scene, probably set in the Campania area, with male and female figures. The scene represents a group of peasants gathered around a seated monk, who is enrolling a young woman as a sister, depicted standing with a letter and a rosary in her hand. We can appreciate the stylistic and figurative technique of this painting, in the characterization of the characters and their clothes. This is a painting of great taste and elegance, capable of furnishing any environment with class and taken from a painting by Filippo Palizzo, a Neapolitan painter active around the mid-nineteenth century.
