NEOCLASSICAL INLAID AND VENEERED CHEST OF DRAWERS, LATE 18TH CENTURY
Description:
Refined chest of drawers veneered and inlaid in walnut and walnut burl. The chest of drawers features a linear design and truncated pyramidal legs, typical of the period. Its refinement and peculiarity lie in the decorations on the front, top, and sides, which include inlays of geometric fillets, designed panels, and vegetal interweaving at the corners. The inlays of the panels present images of classical style, such as a man on horseback, women with child, a statue, and two figures that recall classical antiquity, which contribute to giving a touch of antique taste and class. The chest of drawers has three drawers, two larger and one smaller under the top, ergonomic for storing objects. It is a piece of furniture of great class and refinement, able to furnish any environment with elegance. Lombard manufacture (Northern Italy) from the neoclassical period, around the end of the 18th century.
