OLD PAINTING LANDSCAPE WITH RIVER, EDMOND HIS, OIL ON CANVAS, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. (QP703)  Translated
Description:
(QP703) The Antique Paintings category, Landscape With River, offers an Oil Painting On Canvas from the Early 20th Century depicting a natural landscape, a river scene immersed in nature, which conveys serenity. French School. Art Deco. In the foreground, a tree leaning to the right extends towards a clear body of water, reflecting shades of green and gold. Moss-covered boulders and rocks dot the riverbank and bed. Light filters gently through the foliage, creating a soft and natural chiaroscuro effect, and the water reflects the sun's rays and the shadows of the trees. The antique work is signed at the bottom right by E. René His, a French painter, specializing primarily in landscapes: woods, riverbanks, ponds, waterways. René Charles Edmond His (1877-1960) was born in Colombes near Paris, studied under academic masters: Jules Lefebvre, Henri Biva, Tony Robert-Fleury and Léon Tanzi. He became a member of the Société des Artistes Français as early as 1897. He received awards: honorable mention in 1898, third-class medal in 1900, and also a mention on the occasion of the Exposition Universelle (1900). He is positioned closer to the academic and naturalistic tradition than to Impressionism or avant-garde movements. Some museums that hold his works include: Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, Musée Boucher de Perthes (Abbeville), Musée de Cahors, Musée de Charleville, Musée de Constantine, Musée de Senlis. The oil painting is enclosed in a beautiful gilded frame from the same period as the painting. The frame and the antique canvas have been carefully and professionally restored.
