Elegant set of six oil paintings on canvas, in contemporary frames of carved, ebonized, and gilded wood. The paintings depict genre scenes, portraying popular contexts of daily life. For example, there are musicians, women washing clothes, men drinking in a tavern or playing games. The skillful use of chiaroscuro, the pictorial and stylistic technique, is appreciable in these paintings. This is a series of paintings attributable to the painter Teodoro Helbreker, also known as Teodoro il Fiammingo or Monsù Teodoro (1638-1696), active in Rome and part of the so-called "School of the Bamboccianti"; typical of the school was to portray popular scenes of common life in papal Rome, with attention to those who lived on the margins of society. It is therefore a series of paintings of great taste and antiquity, capable of giving a touch of class and prestige to any environment. Italian manufacture of the second half of the 17th century.
