Louis XVI style credenza, early 20th century. Four truncated pyramid feet support a cabinet with a curved front, featuring a single door on the front with olive hinges and a top made of rare purplish breccia. The cabinet is veneered in mahogany with marquetry reserves made of small, contrasting squares of light mahogany. The entire surface is embellished with finely chiseled and gilded bronzes. The feet feature small floral festoons, the uprights have gilded bronze asparagus inserted into the tapers, frames in the reserves, and foliage scrolls in the undertop band, also in gilded bronze; in the center, a lion's head between two branches of oak and ivy holds in its mouth a drape from which hangs a myrtle branch, decorating the central medallion depicting a bacchanal with fauns.
