JACOB & JOSEF KOHN ROCKING CHAIR (1867-) ORIGINAL LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Beautiful original rocking chair by JACOB & JOSEF KOHN (1867-) of French origin. Jacob & Josef Kohn, also known as J. & J. Kohn, was an Austrian furniture manufacturer in Vienna. Jacob Kohn, together with his son Josef Kohn, founded the company in 1849. Kohn would later become one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Austria-Hungary, becoming a major competitor to Gebrüder Thonet. The Kohns received numerous awards, including a Spanish Royal Warrant of Appointment as purveyors to the royal household. Kohn's works can be seen today in many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Disseny Hub Barcelona. The rocking chair is in very good condition (see photos); the Vienna cane has no breaks. There are originality labels on the internal frame of the chair (unfortunately, they are not very legible).
