WOODEN CLOCK WITH GILDED IRON INLAYS MID 19TH CENTURY
Description:
Elegant clock in carved and ebonized wood, with gilded brass inlays and paintings. The clock has a sinuous shape, a Roman numeral dial and a gilded brass pendulum with the inscription "R-A", i.e. "Return-Forward". The case is adorned with gilded brass inlays with vegetal spirals, also adorned with paintings of various colors, reminiscent of inlays. The clock mechanism is bell-shaped, and strikes the hours and half hours; it is also stamped with the name of the craftsman attributable to the Japy brothers. This is a clock of great taste and elegance, able to give a touch of refinement to any environment. French manufacture from the mid-19th century.
