Vienna 1820-1825. Very rare "sofa" table or desk table from the early Biedermeier period, possibly by Joseph Danhauser or his immediate circle. "Canapètisch n.14" or "Schreibtisch n. 18" with a slight variation from the original drawing from 1820 (see miniature); it is veneered in blonde walnut feather with walnut burl details on a maple wood structure (a technique typical of the Danhauser furniture workshop in Vienna). Measures approx. 142 x 73 x 83 cm high. The piece is in practically intact condition with a museum-standard French polish finish, possessing a magnificent warm patina. Of sober elegance, it also pairs excellently with high-end modern furnishings, creating an exclusive ensemble of elegance and class, even in a small apartment.
