Beautiful Sicilian "cassafuso" made by the famous cartwrights D'Agata of Aci Sant'Antonio.
Description:
Beautiful "cassafuso" from a Sicilian cart, made by the D'Agata family of Aci Sant'Antonio. The D'Agata family was the first known to introduce the profession of cartwright in the 19th century in Aci Sant'Antonio, considered one of the "capitals" of the Sicilian cart. This "cassafuso" (a decorative element that connects the 2 rear wheels of the cart) is of excellent sculptural quality and retains almost all of its original polychromy (very rare). A date is painted on it, only partially legible (May 5, seemingly 1931 or 34). The decoration on the back is also beautiful. Length 117 cm, depth 33. I do not ship, the object is bulky, heavy and delicate. Collection in Milan or delivery in neighboring areas.
