FOUR PAINTINGS CARDINAL VIRTUES MID 18TH CENTURY  Translated
Description:
Refined four oil paintings on canvas, depicting the four cardinal virtues. The paintings reproduce the frescoes painted by Andrea del Sarto in the Chiostro dello Scalzo in Florence, and depict the four cardinal virtues: faith, hope, justice and charity. Each of the virtues is represented as a woman, with relative attributes, in shades of brown-grey, with a skillful chiaroscuro. These paintings were part of a polyptych, as decoration, from which they were then detached. These are paintings of great stylistic and figurative precision, capable of furnishing any environment with a touch of antiquity and taste. Florentine manufacture from the mid-18th century.
