"Christ Mocked" Painting, first half of the 17th century
Description:
Beautiful oil painting on canvas, on a wooden support. The scene depicts Christ sitting with his head facing downward and his hands crossed as they are tied, while two figures are present around him. On the left is a figure in armor, barefoot, placing a hand on the Savior's head, placing the crown of thorns on him, while on the right another strangely crafted figure hands Christ a staff. The realistic execution and the skillful use of chiaroscuro are appreciated in this painting. It is attributed to the Bolognese school, in the context of Annibale Carracci, of the first half of the 17th century.
