Splendid pair of Roman school oil paintings depicting rural landscapes. The two elegant paintings depict two rural scenes from the Roman countryside. One painting features a large oak tree in the center, dominating the landscape covered by a stormy sky, surrounded by small figures immersed in the countryside in bucolic scenes; the other painting is dominated by a waterfall, while further down there is a genre scene with commoners engaged in laundry work or while watching two armed horsemen, with a countryside landscape dotted with architecture opening in the background. The two paintings feature contemporary Florentine-made frames, hand-carved and gilded, which further enhance the sweetness of the landscapes and the detail of the figures depicted. Roman school, early 19th century.
