"Ladies'" walnut secretary desks with drop-front and rosewood inlays
Description:
Valuable piece of furniture of exquisite workmanship, curved on the front and sides with refined rosewood (bois de rose) inlays. On the front, it features a drop-front and two drawers adorned with chiseled bronzes. Its narrow format (also called ladies' sécretaires or "des dames") allows it to be placed anywhere. Once opened, the thick drop-front, decorated and protected with its original leather, develops a wide work surface like a writing desk. Inside the cabinet there are two shelves and two small elegantly threaded drawers. Raised foot in Louis XV style.
