Eight plus two paper panels painted with depictions of flowers and birds, Piedmont, late 18th century

The work reflects the influence of Eastern aesthetics on European decorative culture of the time. The delicate naturalistic motifs, rendered with extraordinary precision and chromatic vividness, evoke exotic and refined atmospheres. Ten analogous panels of the same wallpaper are located in the Chinese apartment on the first floor of the Villa della Regina in Turin.
