Gilded and hand-painted porcelain cup with hunting scenes, 19th century
Description:
Elegant bell-shaped porcelain cup, mounted on a foot and square base, entirely gilded and hand-decorated. The body features two plastic applications depicting bearded masks in a classic style, used as handles. The pictorial decoration, executed with great attention to naturalistic details, depicts on one side a hunting scene with riders, ladies and dogs, and on the other a wooded landscape with grazing deer and figures in the background. The colors are vibrant and well harmonized with the gilding, which is still largely preserved, although with natural signs of use and slight abrasions. European manufacture, probably from the Viennese or French area, first half of the 19th century. Height: 26.5 cm Diameter: 20.5 cm Condition: good overall, with gilding partly worn, slight abrasions and internal oxidation of the fixing screw.
