We present this elegant antique Italian chest of drawers dating back to the mid-18th century, Louis XV period. An extremely refined chest of drawers, whose characteristics suggest that it was made in the cabinet-making workshops of northern Italy, particularly Liguria.
Made of solid carob wood. Carob (Ceratonia siliqua) is an evergreen fruit tree belonging to the legume family. Its fruits, carobs, are flattened and elongated pods, dark brown in color and with a sweet taste. This wood was used in ancient times by Italian cabinet makers, particularly from Liguria, for the production of high quality furniture. This chest of drawers is characterized by a light honey colour that highlights the elegant geometric decoration inlaid in the wood that embellishes each side of the chest of drawers. The decoration is of clear classical taste and personalizes the chest of drawers without making it excessively heavy. Its curved shape on the front and the slender, wavy feet perfectly reflect the taste of the historical period which wanted furniture that was not too linear but moved with extreme elegance and refinement.
