The Antique Sculpture proposed here was made of Bronze metal and represents a Large Lioness.
The 20th-century work has its original Green Patina. Early decades of the twentieth century. Art Deco.
The sculpture depicts a Lioness crouching on a rock and ready to attack its prey, a threatening and aggressive, powerful and strong beast.
The sculpture is signed on the Merculiano Marble base by the Italian sculptor, medalist, and illustrator, Giacomo Merculiano,
known above all for his elegant representations of animals in bronze.
Giacomo Merculiano (1859 – 1935) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he created
the stucco statue Aspiration and the bronze statuette Canto Fermo, exhibited at the Promotrice in Naples.
He moved to Paris, signing his works "Jacques Merculiano" or "J. Merculiano".
He exhibited regularly at the Salon in Paris and in Palermo. He obtained an honor in 1889.
His refined and elegant style is highly appreciated both in Italy and in France.
Bronze statue with marble base, it is in excellent condition.
