Beautiful polychrome and gilded wooden sculpture depicting a Holy Martyr in an upright, full-figure position. The work is excellently carved, and the polychromy presents a splendid coloring and is in excellent condition. The colors are the most typical used for wooden sculptures depicting female figures. In fact, the entirely gilded robe covers a white underdress and is covered by a blue cloak. The drapery of the garments is executed perfectly, and the folds, although very elaborate, appear very natural. The setting is perfectly vertical, and the movement of the protagonist is contained with the face turned frontally.
The work, while maintaining the stylistic features of the 16th century, is placed in the 17th century and is in excellent general condition, without any restoration and without remakes, still with the original pure gold on red bole. The only missing parts are the thumb of the left hand and the upper part of the palm of martyrdom.
The Saint rests on a beautiful coeval faux marble base which increases its beautiful proportions.
