Still life in a landscape  Translated
Description:
ANGELO MARIA ROSSI (CARLO TORRE PAINTER) (Milan, news from 1662 to 1675) Still life in a landscape Oil on canvas, 57x72 cm The work is most likely to be included in the corpus of still lifes by Angelo Maria Rossi, already identified as "Carlo Torre Painter" or "Pseudo Fardella", The composition is quite original, defined on a landscape background played on dark and brownish tones; facing the viewer, the perspective projection of a plane is identified, in the background of which the second still life, arranged on a silver tray, dominates. The light source highlights almost exclusively the fruits; in the foreground, a pile of variously arranged pears alternates harmoniously with single apples, characterized by the skillful volumetric rendering and the balanced chromatic fantasy; above, plums of various shapes create a precarious balance, enhanced by the fading of the color and the sudden touches of light. The calm, delicate compositional elegance, subtly archaic, seems to be the distinctive trait of the master's manner, also found in numerous other works attributable to him: moreover, the peculiar definition of twigs and leaves, for which the Caravaggesque model remains essential, should not be overlooked.  Translated
