He was the son of Giuseppe (1788 – 1847), painter, and Caterina Maccagno. His brother Paolo Emilio was also a painter. Versatile in every pictorial genre, he dedicated himself to the artistic career, preferring decoration, in which he established himself successfully. Another activity he experienced was that of restorer; following the interventions at Palazzo Reale in Turin, in 1858 he will be appointed by King Vittorio Emanuele II painter and restorer of the royal palaces. He died in 1909. In 1884 he was awarded the gold medal on the occasion of the National Exhibition of Turin. The creation of the large canvas that stands in the Scalone d'onore of Palazzo Cacherano di Bricherasio commissioned by the widow of Luigi Cacherano di Briccherasio, Teresa Massel di Caserana, dates back to the previous year. "The canvas represents the death of the young Giorgio III di Cacherano di Envie which took place during the battle of Castelvecchio d'Albenga He is buried in the Monumental Cemetery of Turin.  Translated
