Vienna, first half of the 18th century. Charming noble toilette of high cabinet making, finely inlaid with figurative motifs.
Description:
Rare toilette of a noblewoman, from high Viennese cabinet making of the 18th century, veneered and finely inlaid with figurative motifs, in walnut feather, cherry, ash, maple, plum, walnut and poplar burl, and other fruit woods, in original patina. The figurative inlay of rare beauty and masterful quality is made with a mixed technique (pyrograph, engravings, inlays in painted wood, brush). It depicts gallant scenes of a noblewoman contested in a duel between knights in the base, while in the rear part of the reclining top that houses the mirror (also original), there is the winner kneeling in front of the lady who asks for his hand. Next to it is a graceful little dog, typical companion of the nobility of the time. Other decorative motifs including pine cones and acanthus enrich the scene. With a drawer where jewels and necessaries were kept. Work of high Viennese cabinet making from the first half of the 18th century; of great charm and very "personal". It makes the skin crawl to think which princess or high noble lady was reflected and made up in it. Height cm. 73. Width 49. Depth 37. Rare work in conditions of practical integrity, in original patina and polishing, in excellent non-restored condition. In accordance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides, at the time of sale, a detailed written photographic guarantee of originality and provenance of the works sold.
